Is Privacy Subjective (Visible Man)

Is the concept of Privacy very subjective? I mean we do not want anyone knowing our guilty pleasure, however almost everyone in the class has a facebook?

Does more knowledge really equal a greater understanding? How can you tell the difference between information and misinformation?

The end of the article it says "The way we answer the question will depend on whether or not we share Assange's belief that decision making leads to better outcomes when based on truth than when based on lies and ignorance." Can anyone make an argument for making decisions based upon ignorance?

  1. Oh Ben, you hit the nail right on the head. I think you point out one of Singer's finest moments - he seems to be giving us a choice on where we stand on the issue of government transparency, but then would we deliberately choose ignorance? Can we really say with a straight face "Lies and ignorance FTW!!!" ?
