School is bad for children
1) Do you agree with the author's point of view?
2) Do this change your view on school and what it does to us?
3) Do you think the author may be exaggerating or generalizing?
I think Holt is pushing for a more Montessori type education. I know someone who enrolled their kid in that type of school, and the child gravitated towards "peeling carrots." Being Montessori, the teachers encouraged the child's interest. The mom withdrew her child from the school a week later.
I agree with the author's point of view on some things. I agree that school does limit the creativity, but I do think he goes over the top a bit.
