The Banking Concept of Education
1. Do you think that all you have done with your education is just memorize and not understand it?
2. What is knowledge to you? How is someone knowledgeable?
3. What is the teacher's job?
Personally there have been times that i know i just memorized something instead of understanding it and there are some parts of school that all you do is memorize.
I think there are some things that you memorize, however, sometimes you need to. Had we not memorized the ABC's and the way words look, we wouldn't be able to read.
I think the teachers job is to teach the students directly, but also to get conversations going between the class and letting students work together to help them also teach themselves and their classmates too.
